Investment & Accountancy Evening I
The Risk Investment- and Accountancy Evenings Committee organizes four evenings this year. For these evenings, a variety of professional speakers and companies are invited to discuss relevant themes in the financial world. On this evening, two rooms will be available and two speakers are invited, of whom one will discuss an investment theme and the other will discuss an accountancy or controlling theme.
For the first Investment Evening this year we invited Kirst Kuipers, Managing Director at BlackRock and Head of iShares Netherlands. BlackRock is the biggest investment firm in the world, with over six trillion dollars in assets under management. They have expertise in every region around the world, with 135 investment teams in 30 countries. As Head of iShares ETF & Index Investments Netherlands Kirst Kuipers is going to talk about ETFs and index investing within BlackRock and within the current investment industry.
The speaker of the first Accountancy Evening will be Bert Jan Souman, Project Director of the Proton Therapy Center. On behalf of the CFO of the UMCG Bert Jan Souman will discuss why large investments like the Proton Therapy Center are necessary for a hospital, what kind of risks are involved, and how management control is applied in these types of projects. The aim of this evening is to discuss controlling issues beyond the Big Four accountancy firms.
