Investment & Accountancy Evening I

The Risk Investment- and Accountancy Evenings Committee organizes four evenings this year. For these evenings, a variety of professional speakers and companies are invited to discuss relevant themes in the financial world. On this evening, two rooms will be available and two speakers are invited, of whom one will discuss an investment theme and the other will discuss an accountancy or controlling theme.

The first Evening will take place at Het Heerenhuis, where you are welcome from 19:30 onwards. The speakers will start at 20:00 and afterwards there will be the possibility to ask questions.

Investment Theme

For the first Investment Evening of this academic year we invited Patrick Polak, Managing partner at Newion Investments. This venture capital firm has been investing in European early-stage Business to Business Software companies since 2000. Over the years Newion raised three Venture Capital Funds and one Private Equity Fund, and invested in approximately sixty companies. Patrick Polak will speak about venture capital, investing in companies that are in an early stage, and the associated risks. During this interactive lecture you will learn how a venture capitalist chooses the right strategy and how they deal with the risks of investing in these kind of companies.

Accountancy Theme

The speaker of the first Accountancy Evening of this academic year will be Henk van den Top, Supervisor at KPMG. As a worldwide professional services firm, KPMG is active in the fields of Audit, Advisory and Tax. During an interactive lecture he will give you an insight into the influence of data analytics on the accountancy profession. You will learn about how data analytics are used nowadays, how it will be used in the future and about the possible risks that come with it.

Afterwards, the monthly Risk Social will take place at 't Vaatje, starting at 22:00. As always, the first drinks are on Risk.
